	What do a medical and pharmaceutical sales specialist, a physical therapist, and a real estate developer have in common? Entrepreneurship, great friendship, fun kids, and a love for quality ice cream! Thus, the Norfolk Ice Cream Company, or NICC, was born. After patronizing many ice cream shops in the area over the years with his family, Fred Mariano (or Butch as we all know him as) wondered why there were so few locally owned ice cream shops where quality and customer service were top priority. Many months of research (i.e. visiting all of the local ice cream shops in Hampton Roads) and hard work followed for the concept to come to fruition as NICC. In fact, the Mariano children love “research”! Butch, along with wife, Mira, and good friend, Mike Glenn, are proud to bring NICC to the ODU Village Development. We are a locally owned and independently operated ice cream store where customer service and quality products are our top priority. After years of selling pharmaceuticals and medical products, Butch decided to make a change to selling ice cream, a product that brings joy to young and old alike. As the managing owner, a trip to NICC will likely include a lively conversation with Butch.
